FACT #4:

FORMER TAFE TEACHER BRIAN BURSTON VOTED AGAINST APPRENTICESHIPS

One Nation Senator Brian Burston was a NSW tafe teacher for 3 years, so you think he would stand up for apprenticeships. But since being elected to the Senate, Brian Burston has made a deal with Malcolm Turnbull to give us laws that will mean less apprenticeships on government jobs and even less jobs for our kids.

Malcolm Turnbull’s new building laws – designed to attack unions – make it nearly impossible for unions to insist on certain conditions in their agreements. These conditions include things like:

  • Demanding a certain number of jobs on major projects are given to apprentices
  • Insisting major building companies use Australian-made products on construction sites
  • Ensuring that exploited temporary overseas visa workers are made redundant before local workers

One Nation supported these new laws, and even voted against an amendment that would have secured at least some of these vital conditions.

One Nation are supposed to represent everyday Australians, but by making deals with Malcolm Turnbull they're trading away our children's future.
